Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], July 18 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh Tourism, Culture and Youth Advancement Minister Roja Selvamani demanded legal action against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Gali Bhanu Prakash for allegedly subjecting her to “filthy and abusive language”.
“There is no dignity left for women in Andhra Pradesh today. I was subjected to filthy and abusive language by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Gali Bhanu Prakash simply for raising my voice. This is not just an insult to me. It is an attack on every woman who dares to question those in power,” Selvamani posted on X.
She criticised the Andhra Pradesh police for their inaction against the ruling party’s MLA.
“When I went to the Andhra Pradesh Police to file a complaint, they hesitated even to register it. Is this justice? Is this the state we live in now, where police take orders from political bosses and opposition voices are silenced?” the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress Party leader asked.
Claiming a political vendetta against her, Selvamani alleged that a dangerous culture was being normalised in Andhra Pradesh, where women were being denied justice while those in power were “enjoying protection.”
“This is not just about me. It is about the growing political vendetta and the dangerous culture being normalised in our state. Women are being threatened, abused and denied justice while those in power enjoy protection,” the YSRCP leader said.
“I will not be silenced. I demand immediate legal action against Bhanu Prakash. No woman should be treated this way. We will continue to fight for justice, for dignity and for every woman in Andhra Pradesh,” she added. (ANI)
