New Delhi [India], September 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took an indirect jibe, likely at INDIA bloc leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, calling them “namdaars”, people born with a silver spoon who, he said, cannot understand the struggles of poor mothers or the suffering and pain of their children, as for them, “power” is “inheritance”.
Referring to alleged derogatory remarks made during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar last week, PM Modi said, “The struggles (Tapasya) of a poor mother, the suffering of her son–these young princes born into royal families cannot understand. These ‘naamdaar’ people were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. The power of the country and Bihar seems like an inheritance of their family to them.”
He further criticised the Congress, saying the party has never tolerated backward or extremely backward people moving ahead. “Congress has never tolerated a backwards or extremely backwards person moving ahead! They think that ‘namdaars’ have the right to abuse ‘kaamdaars’… that is why they abuse,” he said.
The Prime Minister also lauded the role of women in defeating the RJD in Bihar, saying they were instrumental in removing the party from power. “Bihar has come out of that darkness after a long battle. All you women of Bihar have played a very big role in removing RJD and defeating it repeatedly. That is why, be it RJD or Congress, these people are most upset with you women today. These people want to take revenge on you; they are looking for an opportunity so that they can punish you,” he said.
PM Modi condemned the abusive remarks directed at his late mother, saying they were an insult to all mothers, sisters, and daughters in India. “Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar… These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. These are insults to the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country,” he said.
He added that his mother had separated him from her so he could serve the country’s women. “My mother, who has nothing to do with politics, who is no more, was abused from the stage of the RJD, Congress. Sisters and mothers, I can see your faces; I can only imagine the pain you must have felt. I can see tears in the eyes of some mothers. This is very sad, painful,” PM Modi said.
This is not the first time PM Modi has employed the “Naamdaar”-“Kaamdaar” jibe.
Ahead of last year’s Madhya Pradesh election, the Prime Minister, during an election rally, had said Rahul Gandhi enjoys abusing him but people should not be angry, adding that for centuries, “Naamdars” have abused “Kaamdars”.
Addressing an election rally in Morena, he said, “Congress’ Shehzada enjoys abusing Modi. People on social media are saying that this language is not right. People are getting upset about it. I am appealing to them that you don’t have to be sad. They are Naamdar and we are Kaamdar. Naamdars have been abusing kaamdars for centuries. I have come out from poverty; if again I get abused, then let it be. Don’t waste your time.”
Back in 2019, during the last phase of Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi had used the “Naamdaar” jibe to allege that Congress’ “Naamdaar” family and Bihar’s corrupt family have assets worth thousands of crores.
“Be it Congress’ Naamdaar family or the corrupt family in Bihar, their assets are in hundred-thousand crores now. From where did the money come? Had they cared a little for the nation and the poor, they would have hesitated from indulging in corruption,” he said.
Even during the Opposition’s “Chowkidar Chor Hai” campaign, PM Modi said the move was to insult all watchmen of the nation, asserting that it is the task of “Naamdaar” to spread hatred.
“They are saying ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ (watchman is a thief). They want to abuse me. The job of these ‘naamdaars’ (dynasts) is to spread hatred. Even if a ‘kaamdar’ (worker) becomes a Prime Minister, these people will continue abusing,” he had said. (ANI)
