Panama City [Panama], May 28 (ANI): BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who is part of the all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, has emphasised India’s resolve to counter Pakistan’s state-sponsored proxy war, noting that the neighbour as a nation has “nothing to lose”, likening its economic state to a patient in the ICU, dependent on the “IMF’s drip”.
Addressing the Indian Diaspora during a diplomatic engagement there, Surya highlighted a unified stance on national security among India’s diverse regional and political spectrum while underscoring India’s economic ascent as the world’s fourth-largest economy and its determination to achieve inclusive prosperity despite Pakistan’s persistent distractions.
“We have diversity in languages, religion, and in regions we come from and political parties we represent, but the very first message we are giving to the entire world is that when it comes to national importance and national security, we are one and we speak in an open voice,” Surya stated.
“Our primary mission as a nation is to achieve collective inclusive prosperity for our people, improve the standard of living for our people, and become the third-largest economy in the world. Still, there is a constant irritant in our neighbourhood who, through a state policy of a proxy war against India, is trying to distract us and effectively cast a veto on our vote. Pakistan has nothing to lose. It is in the ICU and dependent on the IMF’s drip. But India today has the 4th largest economy in the world, and we have everything to gain,” he added.
He noted that for the past 70 years, Pakistan has been trying to distract India through its “bleeding India through 1000 cuts” strategy, a term attributed to Pakistan’s policy of supporting terrorism.
The BJP MP further reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of not remaining silent if such acts happen again, weighing in on India’s potential to conduct ‘Operation Sindoor’ 100 times if provoked again.
“But, in the last 70 years, we have seen how Pakistan has tried to distract us through its state policy of bleeding India through 1000 cuts… But PM Modi has given a clear message to the world that if you attack, we won’t remain silent. The days of passivity are gone. If you attack us, India has the strength to conduct Operation Sindoor, not just once but a hundred times,” he said.
Surya is part of the delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor that includes Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayagi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar K Lata (BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora.
The delegation aims to brief international partners on India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in the United States, Guyana, Panama, Brazil, and Colombia. (ANI)
